What grants to start a business actually cover

The examples below preserve each program’s business-stage requirements. Local startup awards can restrict where you operate, and reimbursement programs require eligible spending. Check those conditions before planning around an award.

Galaxy Grant

Women and minority business owners at any stage: aspiring, just starting or experienced. Free to apply (an optional paid Galaxy Plus membership exists but is not required).

Wyoming Childcare Provider Start-Up Grants

Nonprofit and for-profit child care providers licensed, working toward licensure within one year, or accepting child care subsidies. Prior Childcare Start-up grant recipients are ineligible. A strong business plan is required.

Charleston Drew Wynne Foundation Entrepreneurial Grant

Early-stage entrepreneurs and small nonprofits, from prelaunch to early growth, addressing community needs and ready to use the funding. Focus is Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties, although applications outside the region may be considered.
