Methodology

Only records marked open with a deadline today or later, or no fixed deadline, are counted. Forecasts and closed records are excluded. Each record is one opportunity or round, not necessarily a distinct ongoing grant program.

State-specific counts include records explicitly listing that state, including local, regional and private programs. When a federal record has no state tags, the site’s existing title-based geography rules identify named states or regions. Multi-state programs appear in each relevant row.

*Federal programs with neither state tags nor a recognized state restriction in their title appear in every row. This means no state restriction is recorded, not that every applicant or project qualifies. Other geography, applicant and project restrictions may apply on the official listing. National nonfederal programs without state tags are excluded from this report.

Funding is the sum of positive, finite totalFunding values in US dollars: the stated pool for the entire opportunity. Award ceilings are not substituted and missing or zero values are treated as unstated. Each program’s full pool appears in each applicable state, so row totals are not state allocations. The headline counts each included record and its pool once.

These figures describe GrantCalendar’s recorded coverage. Differences between states reflect both available programs and source coverage; they are not a census of all US grants.
